FAQ: Lord of Loot - an addictive co-op fantasy board game
For the most up-to-date information about the status of our project, check our project updates on Kickstarter!

What languages are available?

The game itself has no text and the only element that is language-dependent is the rule book. The printed rule book comes in English, German, French, Italian and Spanish – you can choose your preference in the Pledge Manager. We are striving to offer additional language options via a translated PDF rule for download, such as Polish, Ukrainian, etc. We are still looking for proof-readers for machine-translated versions of the rule books so we can offer them in more languages. If you want to volunteer, please reach out to us ([email protected]).

Is this game for kids or adults?

The game is not a “kids game” but works well as a “family game”. It requires strategy, good cooperation in the team and poses challenge to defeat the embosses. However, the game is very accessible and lighthearted so you can play it with a group of adults in a game night but also with kids (together with the parents who can help them). As Jazz, a reviewer from Everything Board Games put it: “What is surprising is that it is easy enough for a 6-year old to learn but engaging enough for adults. Impressions were all positive”. We got very positive feedback from various age groups.

Is this game similar to … (Avel, Karak, HeroQuest, Andor, Pandemic, Gloomhaven, etc.)?

Reviewers have compared aspects of the game to Avel, Pandemic, Cthulhu: death may die, Horrified, Eldritch Horror and others. Lord of Loot features many common features that are characteristic for the fantasy genre, such as character building, a character can equip weapons (in the right and left hand), a health bar, a limited inventory (backpack, chest, etc.) that you will also find in various versions in games of the genre, like Avel, Karak, Hero Quest, etc. and many fantasy computer games (even in Minecraft you can hold a sword and shield in your hands and have a health bar and a limited inventory). The dice mechanics (rolled shields counter rolled swords) is very straight-forward and common to many games in the genre – back to classics like HeroQuest. Additionally, you will find many unique things in Lord of Loot, for example you can learn magic spells and add them to your spell book. To cast such a spell you need to combine special ingredients to unleash powerful magic. Check out the campaign page, the how-to-play video, playthroughs, etc. to get a more impression of the game. Long story short: If you like fantasy games like Avel, Karak, Andor, Gloomhaven, etc. or cooperative games like Pandemic, Horrified, Eldritch Horror, etc. there is a good chance you will like Lord of Loot as well

Does it include a campaign?

No. The game is designed as an accessible one-off (but very replayable) game for a game night, that can be set up in 5 minutes, explained in 5 minutes (and during play) and lasts 60-90 minutes so you can play it in a game night with a good glass of wine, and everyone has fun. The game is very replayable due to the different embosses and their unique quests, the asymmetric heroes and the modular game board. That what we had in mind when we developed this game. There are many great campaign fantasy games out there (like Oathsworn, Gloomhaven, etc.) but often enough I do not have a chance to get a group together to play them, while on the other hand I have a quite a lot of shorter game nights where we play games that last 1-2h and can be explained easily - but are still deep enough to be exciting. This is what we developed Lord of Loot for.

Is the game difficult?

In its standard setup the game is challenging, so you might need multiple attempts to defeat the endbosses – so it feels like a real achievement if you made it. The game offers options to adjust the difficulty, though. So, you can make it easier (e.g., if you struggle to win or play with kids) and you can make it harder for the extra challenge. E.g., the endbosses have different difficulties (easy, medium, hard) and you can adjust the monster card deck to adjust the difficulty.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
